Midwifery Services

Your package of midwifery services includes:
  • Prenatal care, including visits every 4 weeks through your 28th week of pregnancy, every two weeks through your 36th week, and weekly visits until the time of your home birth, birth center delivery, or water birth. More frequent visits for additional monitoring will be included as needed for prenatal care after 40 completed weeks of pregnancy.  
  • Attendance at your holistic birth from around the time of active labor until all initial postpartum assessments are complete.
  • Postpartum visits at 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 2-3 weeks and 6 weeks, to include well baby care as well as holistic postpartum maternal care.
  • All routine lab work, screens, and common medications (ultrasounds and certain medications such as rhoGAM will be charged separately.)
  • 24-hour on-call support for emergencies or questions about labor, as well as email and text support for any additional questions or concerns between appointments.

Fees

Your midwifery care is provided for one global fee, which can be broken into monthly payments.
  • Discounts are available for Medicaid eligible clients.
  • An early payment discount is available for clients who pay in full by their 28th completed week of pregnancy.
  • Payment in full is due by the end of your 36th week of pregnancy.
  • The first payment is due at your first prenatal visit.
  • I can provide a statement of services for you to submit to your insurance company. 
  • Prorated refunds due to a medical need to transfer care prenatally are also available.  
  • Your monthly payment and all other aspects of the financial agreement are thoroughly discussed, documented, and signed by both parties.
  • If you want access to safe prenatal care and holistic birth options but are struggling to get the care you need, please contact me.  Even if I am not able to help directly, we can work together to find the resources you need.

I will recommend resources as needed for childbirth preparation and support throughout your childbearing year and beyond.  Check out the resources on this site to see all the resources available to you at The NEST.  Here are some additional ideas ideas to get you started:
  • A movie for all expectant parents about what to expect at the hospital and the function of midwives: The Business of Being Born
  • A thought provoking and important read when making decisions about how you want to birth your baby: Born in the USA: How a Broken Maternity System Must Be Fixed to Put Women and Children First" by Marsden Wagner.
  • Are you interested in learning more about the dramatic disparities in maternity care in our country?  Black mothers are four times more likely to die in childbirth in the United States right now, regardless of educational level, wealth, or other factors.  Read the New York Times Article: "Why America's Black Mothers & Babies Are in a Life-or-Death Crisis" and let me know if you need help with access to good maternity care. 
  • Develop a gift list for family and friends to help you get the support and self care you will need postpartum.  Check out our NEST recommended products  to help you care for and celebrate your amazing birthing body.
